Commercial kitchen extraction canopies

We have been manufacturing and installing commercial kitchen canopies and ventilation systems for more than 20 years. Every canopy is built to order: the size, the plenums and the filters are worked out from the cooking equipment that will sit underneath it, which is why we do not sell canopies off the shelf.

A canopy is only one part of a kitchen ventilation system, so we design and install the ductwork, fans, controls and any odour or noise control at the same time.

At a glance

  • Made to measure in our own workshop
  • Extraction volumes calculated for your cookline
  • Complete system: ductwork, fans and controls
  • Odour, grease and noise control where needed

Types of canopy we manufacture and install

Wall-mounted canopies
For a single bank of cooking against a wall, usually with one filter bank built to the length of the cookline.
Island canopies
For cooking from both sides with a double bank of filters, typically in larger kitchens.
Low-level canopies
Mounted lower over equipment such as fryers or conveyor ovens to increase capture. We built one for a Middleby Marshall oven at Pizza Hut Express, Watford.
Non-filter canopies
For equipment that produces heat or steam but no grease or smoke.
Condensing canopies
Fitted over dishwashers to reduce moisture in the kitchen.
Recirculation canopies
For all-electric cooking, a five-stage filtration system lets the canopy recirculate air so no duct discharge is needed.

What decides the right system for your kitchen

  • Whether you cook with gas or electric equipment
  • Whether the property is in or near a residential area
  • How much grease and smoke the cooking produces, for example char-grilling
  • Whether the cooking gives off strong odours
  • Whether the system will discharge at low or high level
  • Whether the property and the kitchen are fit for purpose

Built in Birmingham, fitted by our own engineers

Once the canopy dimensions and the equipment beneath it are fixed, we calculate the extraction volumes and specify the right fan, allowing for the restrictions in the ductwork. If the site is near homes, we design in odour and noise control and, where needed, submit plans to the council for approval before manufacture starts.

Canopies are made in our workshop and installed by our engineers exactly to the drawings, with every fan tested and commissioned before sign-off.

FAQs

Common questions

Something else you need to know? Call the team or send an enquiry.

Why don't you sell canopies online?

Every canopy is built to order. The size, plenums and filters depend on the extraction volumes needed for the specific cooking equipment underneath it, and a canopy is only one part of the ventilation system.

Can you make a canopy for an unusual space or appliance?

Yes. Because we manufacture in-house, we regularly build bespoke canopies, such as a free-standing unit over a fryer section for KFC Ely and a low-level canopy for a conveyor oven at Pizza Hut Express.

Do I need a duct to outside?

Usually, yes. For kitchens that cook entirely on electric equipment, a recirculation canopy with multi-stage filtration can avoid the need for an external discharge.
